We are looking for a detail-oriented Tax Staff - Corporate team member to support indirect tax compliance for distributor in in Glen Allen, Virginia. This role focuses on preparing and coordinating a range of monthly tax filings, maintaining accuracy in reporting, and ensuring payments are completed on schedule. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with tax data, responding to audit-related requests, and partnering with internal stakeholders to deliver reliable reporting and compliance support.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file monthly indirect tax returns covering beverage excise obligations, sales and use tax, and other applicable tax categories.

• Gather, review, and organize reporting data needed for tax submissions handled both internally and through external providers.

• Process timely online tax payments and confirm all recurring filing deadlines are met without exception.

• Examine municipal tax returns and related monthly remittances to verify completeness and accuracy.

• Support the Tax Manager with unclaimed property research, documentation, and reporting activities.

• Coordinate with state revenue auditors by supplying records and backup documentation related to excise tax filings when audits arise.

• Create customized reports and analyses to respond to requests from business partners and external parties.

• Track assigned objectives closely and complete deliverables efficiently while maintaining strong compliance standards.

• Experience with corporate tax compliance, including indirect tax reporting and payment processes.
• Working knowledge of sales and use tax requirements and related filing practices.
• Familiarity with beverage, excise, or importer and wholesaler tax regulations is strongly preferred.
• Ability to compile, reconcile, and analyze tax data from multiple reports with a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and shifting priorities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for responding to auditors and supporting cross-functional requests.
• Proficiency in preparing ad hoc tax reports and handling detailed financial or tax-related documentation.
